For Solana users, yes — Phantom was built specifically for Solana and offers a far superior experience for SOL tokens, NFTs, and Solana DeFi. For Ethereum and EVM users, MetaMask remains the standard — its dApp compatibility is unmatched. Phantom has added Ethereum and Polygon support, but MetaMask's EVM integration is deeper.
Can Phantom replace MetaMask? +
Phantom now supports Ethereum and Polygon alongside Solana, so it can serve as a multi-chain wallet. However, many Ethereum dApps still default to MetaMask, and some don't yet support Phantom's EVM integration. Power DeFi users on Ethereum will still need MetaMask for full compatibility.
Does Phantom support Bitcoin? +
Yes — Phantom added native Bitcoin support in 2024. You can hold, send, and receive BTC directly in Phantom. MetaMask does not support native Bitcoin — it only works with EVM-compatible chains.
Which wallet has lower fees? +
Both wallets are free to download and use. Transaction fees are network fees (gas), which depend on the blockchain — Solana transactions via Phantom cost fractions of a cent, while Ethereum transactions via MetaMask can cost $1–50+ depending on network congestion.
